Red Kite Radio Wins Siver at the Community Radio Awards 2019
Red Kite Radio was shortlisted for several awards, which was whittled down from more than the 425 entries submitted from community radio stations representing communities from every corner of the UK. We picked up nominations for our volunteers in three categories for their work providing a first-class radio service for Haddenham, Thame & the surrounding villages.

Our nominees were

Newcomer (new to radio in last 12 months) - Annette (Annie) Luck
Sage Person (Over 60) - Steve Fox
Volunteer of the Year - Chas Large.

And we're happy to say Chas was awarded SILVER in his category of Volunteer of the Year. His certificate was collected by Steve and Annie as he could not attend in person.

Chas' Certificate at the Awards

Well done to Chas and lets hope next year we can go for and win GOLD in one of the categories.

Following some more fantastic great pledges, we're now at 77% of our target, THANK YOU.

We're looking to raise funds for some Outside Broadcast equipment to enable us to do live events on the station.

But these events can’t be broadcast live!

When we go to events, we record interviews with members of the public and people involved in running them. They have to be recorded because we don’t yet have the necessary equipment to broadcast live. Last year we put together a full show from rehearsals and behind the scenes at The Players Theatre Pantomime in Thame. How much better it would have been live!

What will outside broadcast equipment enable us to do?

Red Kite Radio will be able to broadcast remotely from the radio station in real time at a huge range of community events - from Aston Clinton Beer Festival and Cuddington Fete to Haddenham Summerfest, Haddenham Winterfest and Thame Arts & Literature Festival. We’ll have closer links with our listeners and with event organisers.

Help us broadcast live from local events in real time!

We’re asking for pledges to help us buy outside broadcast equipment valued at £5,000. It will enable us to capture and relay sound from other locations back to the studio, so that we can broadcast events as they are happening! Please help us provide a more immediate service to listeners in the Vale and surrounding areas! Please follow the link below to our Spacehive page where you can make a pledge which is only cashed once we achieve our goal.
